Better moments on the mound
Bear Down now gives each pitch its top speed for that pitch type. Nail the input and the PAR tightens too. That makes the resource feel worth saving, rather than something you tap and hope works out.
Use it when the at-bat actually matters. A full count, runners aboard, late innings. Tossing it on predictable first pitches is just giving the hitter a cleaner read.
The derby feels less frantic
The Meta: Offline Derby is now built around measured swings instead of timers.
The Snag: Early misses hurt more when every round has a fixed attempt total.
The Fix: Settle into one timing rhythm and keep an eye on distance in round one.
Honestly, this is the part I did not expect to enjoy so much. Twenty swings open the event, then fifteen in each later round. A final-swing homer keeps your turn alive, which is a neat little pressure cooker.
That low-away breaking ball
Same-handed hitters get a larger PCI on breaking pitches down and away. It does not turn those pitches into easy damage. You still need to spot the break early, hold the zone, and get the barrel there on time.
The buzz on Discord: Players like having a fighting chance there, though pitchers who change eye level are still getting plenty of weak contact.
Playing through a computer
Cloud access: Owned eligible edition, qualifying subscription, compatible controller.
Remote access: Supported console online, official PC app, stable home connection.
What that PC option really means
There is no locally installed PC edition as of July 28, 2026. Cloud play and console remote access put the console version on your monitor. They are useful routes, but they do not add PC menus, keyboard controls, or local rendering.
If you stream, start with Custom Practice. Try fastballs and late-breaking stuff for a few innings. A sharp picture can fool you; swing response is the thing that decides whether the setup feels playable.
Keep the connection honest
Wired console: Prefer it whenever possible.
Display mode: Use the lowest-latency option available.
Where this leaves Update 14
The patch rewards cleaner choices on both sides of the ball. Derby swings have weight, Bear Down has teeth, and hitters are not quite as trapped by one familiar location. For anyone building a club or simply browsing cheap MLB 26 Stubs, the sensible move is to test the new feel before changing a whole approach.
